Clearlake Capital takes full control of Chelsea after Boehly, Walter, and Wyss sell stakes

Clearlake Capital has acquired full control of Premier League club Chelsea after chairman Todd Boehly, director Mark Walter and Swiss businessman Hansjorg Wyss sold their stakes. The deal marks the end of the current ownership group and places the club under a single investor. Chelsea will now move forward under Clearlake’s leadership.

Clearlake Capital has taken full control of Premier League club Chelsea following the sale of shares by chairman Todd Boehly, director Mark Walter and Swiss businessman Hansjorg Wyss.

The three owners, who had been part of Chelsea’s leadership since the 2020 takeover, divested their stakes to the U.S. investment firm.

Under the previous ownership group, Chelsea had pursued a number of high‑profile signings and had been a regular contender for domestic and European titles.

The deal gives Clearlake a single, unified ownership structure, which could streamline decision‑making and investment in the squad and club infrastructure.

Chelsea will now operate under Clearlake’s leadership, with the club expected to continue its pursuit of trophies while the new owners assess their long‑term strategy.
