Edu departs Nottingham Forest after turbulent spell

Edu, the club's global head of football, has left Nottingham Forest after a little over a year in charge. His exit follows a period of turbulence at the City Ground, bringing an end to his brief tenure.

Edu was appointed as Nottingham Forest’s global head of football in 2023, tasked with steering the club’s sporting strategy and long‑term development.

During his tenure, the club faced a series of challenges, including managerial changes and inconsistent results on the pitch, contributing to a turbulent atmosphere at the City Ground.

In early 2025, the club announced that Edu would step down, citing the need for fresh direction and a new approach to its sporting operations.

The decision comes after just over a year in the role, a relatively brief period for a senior sporting position at a club of Forest’s stature.

With Edu’s departure, Nottingham Forest will now search for a new global head of football to guide its future ambitions and restore stability within the club’s hierarchy.
